The James P. Newton House

Decorated for the holiday season, this home was designed by Sioux City’s most famous architect, William Steele and is one of his earliest work in the Prairie School style of architecture.

James P. Newton was the President and owner of Haskin Bros, & Co. when he built this house in 1909. His company was the first and only soap manufacturer in Sioux City making nationally famous “Trilby” and “Peek-a-Boo” brand soaps.
